Swiss Christmas Cookies! {Mailänderli, Spitzbuben& Zimtsterne}
Since I’ve been a child there are 3 different kinds of cookies my Mom used to always make for Christmas; Mailänderli, Spitzbuben& Zimtsterne.
They have become our Family favorites, and I love to make them here in the States for Christmas, to hold on to these sweet Memories. I found the recipes for each Cookie batch in English, for most of my followers speak and read English:)
I did replace or omitted a few Ingredients, which I am going to point out…
-For All the Cookies I used Brown Sugar.
– I made mine thinner, which makes them more crunchy, and because I simply wanted to make them as I remembered my mom making them, I did not add the Lemon Zest. For the Flour I used Organic Unbleached All Purpose Flour.
– My mom always made this cookies round shaped, which is less time-consuming:)
I used the cape of a seasoning jar to cut out the round shape.
I made one batch with Organic Unbleached All Purpose Flour& the second batch with Bob’s Red Mill 100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat Flour ( 2 Cups Whole Wheat& 3/4 Cup All Purpose)
Zimtsterne (Cinnamon Stars)
These Cookies should be called Almond Cookies instead of Cinnamon Cookies…
Anyways, mine obviously don’t have the shape of a Star… because they dough is so sticky, it’s so much easier and less time-consuming to just form them into small balls, with the palm of your hands.
I doubled the Ingredients to get out more cookies, and I also didn’t add the Sugar Glaze, it might make them look more appealing, but I rather omit the extra Sugar…
They are all so Delicious! And there is enough to share with special Friends♥
